From a public dairy scheme to a modern national business.
The story of Sujal Dairy is closely connected to the Pokhara Milk Supply Scheme (PMSS). PMSS was established in 1977 AD by the Dairy Development Corporation (DDC), with its dairy plant coming into operation in Pokhara in 1980 AD under a project supported by the Danish Government.
During Nepal's privatization process, Sujal Dairy identified an opportunity to transform the business. Following a competitive bidding process, the company was awarded the scheme in January 2005.
From the beginning, Sujal Dairy focused on modernization, investing in improved milk collection, processing, marketing and production technologies. The company introduced the brand Safal, which quickly became a household name in Pokhara and surrounding areas.
What began as a government scheme has evolved into a thriving dairy company driven by innovation, quality, consumer trust and continued support for farming communities.

Sujal Dairy Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Laxmi Group, officially took over PMSS and introduced its flagship Safal brand.
